England vs West Indies Preview

England’s match against Nepal was a real nail-biter, with Sam Curran’s expertly-delivered final over stealing a four-run victory from the jaws of defeat.

And without a fantastic final over in the Three Lions’ batting innings from Will Jacks to take the score to 184/7, the associate nation would likely have strolled to victory in the chase.

But England have got the points on the board, and that is all that matters at this early stage. Furthermore, there were some solid individual outings, namely from skipper Brook and Jacob Bethell – who each scored 50 at a good rate.

However, an improved display overall will almost certainly be needed against a high-class West Indies side which dispatched Scotland in their opener.

Shai Hope’s men put up 182/5 in Kolkata, Shimron Hetmyer top scoring with 64, and then bowled the Scots out for 147.

With so many fantastic and IPL-experienced players in the squad such as Romario Shepherd, Sherfane Rutherford, Rovman Powell and Akeal Hosein, this match represents a huge early challenge for two-time trophy winners England – but one the players should relish.

England vs West Indies Betting Tips

England top batter – Jos Buttler @ 4.00

Buttler is England’s most experienced batter, and he knows the Wankhede better than most thanks to his time in the IPL. The world-class opener also has a great T20I record against the West Indies, hitting 470 runs at an average of 34.00 – as well as a strike rate of 144.68.

England top bowler – Adil Rashid @ 4.00

Rashid had a tough time against Nepal, going for 42 runs in just three overs. But his ability is unquestionable, and a player of his stature should bounce back quickly. Oh and Rashid’s record against the West Indies in T20Is is absolutely phenomenal. The veteran bowler has taken 40 wickets in 25 appearances at an average of just 14.02, maintaining an economy rate of 6.49 in the process. If the opposition are a few down by the time Rashid comes on after the powerplay, he can rip through the middle order.
