Former Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam has said that Michael Olise would be his dream replacement for the departing Mohamed Salah at Liverpool.

Adam: Replacing Salah one of Liverpool’s biggest challenges
Adam told NetBet Sport: “Replacing Mohamed Salah is one of the biggest challenges Liverpool have faced in recent years. When you look at what he’s achieved at the club, you’re talking about a genuine Liverpool great. In my opinion, he goes down as one of the top five players to ever wear the shirt. The goals, the assists, the trophies and the consistency over so many years have been incredible.
“If Liverpool were looking for a dream replacement, Michael Olise would be right at the top of my list. He’s got outstanding quality, he’s already shown what he can do at the highest level, and crucially he has Premier League experience. When you’re trying to replace a player like Salah, you need somebody who can handle the pressure and make an impact straight away.
“The challenge, of course, is whether a deal would be possible. Players of that calibre don’t come cheap and Liverpool would need to decide if that’s the route they want to go down. Ultimately, that will be a decision for the directors and recruitment team.
“Finding a direct heir to Salah is incredibly difficult because you’re replacing somebody who has been a proven winner for years. There aren’t many players in world football capable of producing the numbers he has delivered season after season.
“I was a little surprised by some of the comments that came out around Salah towards the end of last season. As a senior player and one of the leaders in the dressing room, you’d expect things to be handled differently, although none of us know exactly what was said behind closed doors.
“Whoever comes in has massive boots to fill. Young players like Yan Diomande have shown flashes of quality and plenty of potential, but development takes time. Liverpool need someone who can deliver now while also helping shape the future of the team.”
