Arsenal vs Everton: Total goals – Under 2.5 @ 1.91
Under David Moyes, it feels almost certain that Everton – with their talented defenders such as James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite – will look to frustrate Arsenal by operating in a deep block. The Gunners often flatter to deceive when met with a stubborn rearguard, even at the Emirates. So backing a low number of goals could be the way to go here, especially as this selection landed in four of Everton’s last five matches. And history tells us this is also a bet to consider, as it was a winner in five of the previous six meetings between these sides – including both matches last season.
Coventry vs Fulham: Player to score or assist – Jack Rudoni @ 2.24
If you are a fan of Premier League football, Rudoni is certainly a player to keep an eye on this weekend and beyond. The attacking midfielder scored in each of the last two matches vs Newcastle and Tottenham, the former of which was from the penalty spot. Now it remains to be seen whether he is the team’s designated taker in all situations, but the strike from 12 yards certainly enhances his appeal in the market. This weekend Rudoni and Coventry take on a stuttering Fulham side looking to build on the 1-0 home win over Hull, and the hosts should be confident of delivering some positive output. At better than evens, backing Rudoni to tally another key contribution could be a shrewd pre-match move.
Hull vs Brentford: Brentford to win and both teams to score – Yes @ 3.06
Brentford are rightly the big favourites ahead of kick-off here, though we expect Hull to make things difficult for the visitors. The Tigers drew 2-2 with Everton in their previous home outing, and have really proven they can hold their own in the top flight. But Brentford’s additional quality should see them over the line, though the Bees’ lack of clean sheets – just two kept in nine games this season – means we are siding with this BTTS-themed selection.
Crystal Palace vs Newcastle: Draw no bet – Newcastle @ 1.65
Both of these teams are struggling to string a run of results together. Palace were thrashed 5-0 at rivals Brighton last weekend, while Newcastle lost each of the last two vs Coventry (4-1) and Aston Villa (0-1). So it is therefore quite a hard game to call, but Palace’s European exploits could be a decisive factor here. Newcastle have had a whole week to fully prepare for this contest, and therefore you have to fancy them to get a result. Covering two outcomes (to a degree) with DNB removes a chunk of the jeopardy, with Palace winning just two of the previous 11 meetings with the Magpies.
Sunderland vs Leeds: Anytime goalscorer – Dominic Calvert-Lewin @ 2.65
Calvert-Lewin has made a strong start to the season with four goals in seven Premier League appearances. Of course, all of those strikes were tallied at Elland Road, but this weekend presents the perfect opportunity for the centre forward to shine on the road. Sunderland are in a spot of bother having lost the last four in the top flight, including the previous two at the Stadium of Light vs Arsenal (0-2) and Brighton (0-2). Playing in the Europa League on Thursdays is perhaps proving to be a big problem for manager Regis Le Bris, with Daniel Ballard’s absence also a significant issue. Ballard could have been the man to thwart Calvert-Lewin’s aerial threat, but sadly that will not the case. So backing the Leeds man to deliver again may prove to be a smart play, provided he shakes off a minor foot injury and starts on Wearside!
