After a summer of thrilling international action, domestic football is now back.
The English Football League season begins this weekend, with a full round of fixtures in the Championship, League One and League Two.
We have to wait until next week for the Premier League campaign to begin but do not worry, there are some cracking games on offer from the lower divisions that should provide some incredible entertainment.
Ahead of the opening round of EFL fixtures, NetBet has predicted a winner from four games and our tips can be used in an accumulator with odds of 11.97.
And do not forget, new customers can take advantage of our brilliant welcome offer!
Middlesbrough to beat Swansea @ 1.84 (Saturday, August 10, 12:30pm)
*Odds are subject to change
Middlesbrough are one of the big favourites to achieve automatic promotion in 2024-25. With manager Michael Carrick instilling a positive, dynamic playing style, Boro will hope to take the Championship by storm after ending last season with 25 points from their final 12 matches.
Their first assignment this time around pits them against a Swansea side who struggled for form in 2023-24, winning only 15 of 46 matches.
Boro have strengthened their defence with the arrival of Luke Ayling on a free transfer and we expect them to have too much for Swansea on Saturday – particularly with the support of their passionate home crowd at the Riverside.
Millwall to beat Watford @ 2.29 (Saturday, August 10, 12:30pm)
We expect this to be a very close encounter but one that Millwall eventually edge. The Lions are usually a formidable outfit on home soil and may have too much for a Watford side who seem to permanently be in a period of transition.
Millwall’s front line has also been bolstered this summer by the arrival of Macaulay Longstaff from Notts County.
Longstaff scored 28 goals in 46 League Two matches last season and he will be itching to make his mark in the Championship this weekend.
Birmingham to beat Reading @ 1.48 (Saturday, August 10, 5:30pm)
After suffering relegation to League One last season, Birmingham will be desperate to silence their critics.
The Blues have been busy in the transfer market, adding some serious European talent to their squad in the form of Christoph Klarer, Willum Thor Willumsson and Emil Hansson. Prolific English striker Alfie May has also joined after a hugely successful stint at Charlton.
With such a strong squad and home advantage, we expect Birmingham to cruise past a Reading side who narrowly avoided relegation last season. It could be another tough campaign for the Royals and they are at 5.00 to finally succumb to the drop in 2024-25.
Wrexham to beat Wycombe @ 1.92 (Saturday, August 10, 5:30pm)
The Wrexham fairytale continues as they begin their League One adventure this weekend.
Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney will watch on as their side entertain a Wycombe team who will be out to prove they are more than a mid-table outfit.
However, Wrexham are a very tough opening weekend assignment and we expect the Red Dragons to start life in the third tier with a comfortable(ish) victory.
Wrexham will be without the services of star striker Paul Mullin, though, as he recovers from minor spinal surgery and his absence may give Wycombe a welcome confidence boost ahead of kick-off on Saturday afternoon.
