The 2024-25 season is now officially over following the conclusion of the Champions League campaign.

So now is the perfect time for a blog to run through the five players who recorded the most goal contributions.

Only players operating in Europe’s top five leagues have been considered for selection, with goals and assists from league, cup and continental matches all included.

Kylian Mbappe – 46 (42 goals, 4 assists)

Mbappe’s first season in a Real Madrid shirt was a resounding success, despite the fact he did not lift silverware in the famous white jersey. The French striker took a little bit of time adjusting to his new surroundings, but really exploded into life towards the end of the campaign. Mbappe finished as La Liga’s leading scorer with an eye-catching 31 goals, four more than Barcelona’s Robert Lewandowski. He also netted a hat-trick against the Blaugrana away from home, albeit in a 4-3 defeat.

Ousmane Dembele – 48 (33 goals, 15 assists)

What a season it was for current Ballon d’Or favourite Dembele. The lightning-quick forward helped Paris Saint-Germain win a historic treble and he recorded two assists in the 5-0 win over Inter Milan in the Champions League final. Dembele was named both Ligue 1 and UEFA’s Player of the Season, with 21 of his goals scored in French top-flight action – at an average of 1.09 per 90 minutes. A truly phenomenal talent who has finally fulfilled his potential.

Harry Kane – 51 (38 goals, 13 assists)

Another season, another ridiculous haul of goal contributions from Kane. The Bayern Munich centre forward is as consistent as they come and this campaign saw the England captain finally lift silverware in the form of the Bundesliga title. Kane finished the German top-flight term with 26 goals in 31 matches, tallying 11 more strikes in 13 Champions League appearances. He really is the complete package in terms of a striker and next season, he will be eyeing more trophies – both with Bayern and England!

Mohamed Salah – 57 (34 goals, 23 assists)

Salah’s numbers for Liverpool in 2024-25 are quite simply ridiculous and without him, Arne Slot would not have won the Premier League in his first season in charge. The Egyptian superstar, who recently put pen to paper on a new deal at Anfield, scored the most goals (29) and tallied the most assists (18) in England’s top tier. This also represented a record-breaking campaign of 344 points in the world-renowned Fantasy Premier League game!

Raphinha – 59 (34 goals, 25 assists)

We were quite shocked to see Raphinha ahead of Salah, but then we remembered just how prolific the Brazilian ace was for Barcelona in the Champions League. The former Leeds winger equalled Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for goal contributions in a single season, finishing with 21 thanks to 13 goals and eight assists. In La Liga, Raphinha impressed too, netting 18 goals in total – more than Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez. And you feel this is just the beginning for him under the tutelage of Hansi Flick…
