Title-chasing Manchester City are looking to keep the pressure on leaders Arsenal when they visit their current enemy’s biggest rivals, Tottenham.
While Pep Guardiola has been incredibly successful in English football, this is a fixture which he has not always enjoyed throughout his trophy-filled reign – evidenced by the 2-0 loss at the Etihad back in August!
But with Spurs struggling near the foot of the table and seemingly unable to win at home in the league, City have a golden opportunity to leave North London on Sunday evening with three precious points.

Recent results
Spurs continued their good Champions League form on Wednesday with a 2-0 win at Eintracht Frankfurt, securing a Top 8 finish in the process.
But in the Premier League, Thomas Frank’s side have been woeful of late, now sitting 14th in the table and without a win in five matches following last weekend’s 2-2 draw at Burnley. Their previous home match saw them lose 2-1 to another relegation candidate in West Ham.
City beat Galatasaray 2-0 in Europe to book their place in the Round of 16, and Guardiola’s men also got back to winning ways with that scoreline in the Premier League last weekend vs Wolves.
The home triumph ended a four-game run without a win in the top flight, the last two away matches seeing the Citizens draw 0-0 at Sunderland and lose 2-0 to Manchester United.
Amazingly, Spurs have the second-worst home record in the league with just two wins from 11 matches, although City have already lost four away matches this term.
Head-to-head record
Spurs’ aforementioned 2-0 success at the Etihad in August means they have won three of the last four editions of this fixture across all competitions, including the famous 4-0 win in Manchester from November 2024.
Another one of those victories was at home in the 2024-25 EFL Cup, though City did win 1-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in last season’s Premier League.
The Citizens also won 2-0 in North London back in May 2024, a result which effectively secured the title at Arsenal’s expense, and ended four-game streak without a victory in the Spurs stadium.
Team news
James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Rodrigo Bentancur, Mohammed Kudus, Richarlison, Pedro Porro, Ben Davies and Lucas Bergvall are all out injured for Spurs, while centre-back Micky van de Ven is also a doubt.
Antoine Semenyo and Marc Guehi are available to Guardiola again after being ineligible for Champions League duty, but the European outing saw Jeremy Doku pick up a calf injury. The Belgian joins a City treatment room featuring Josko Gvardiol, Ruben Dias, John Stones, Savinho and Mateo Kovacic.

Tottenham vs Manchester City Betting Tips
Anytime goalscorer – Dominic Solanke @ 5.00
After a goal in the recent 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund, Solanke scored off the bench in Frankfurt, and we fully expect him to return to the XI here after playing 90 minutes in the 2-2 draw at Burnley. City’s back-line is hampered by injuries, and a Spurs goal does not look outside the realms of possibility. Solanke’s price in this market is unexpectedly fantastic, so the selection could be well worth a cheeky punt.
Erling Haaland to have over 1.5 shots on target @ 1.73
Haaland ended his mini drought from open play in the victory over Galatasaray, which is not good news for Spurs. The Norwegian has 43 SOT in 23 appearances this season, an average close to two per game. And the hosts’ inability to keep things tight on their own patch in the league should see City’s main man quickly find his groove in the final third.
Conor Gallagher to commit over 1.5 fouls @ 1.83
Gallagher’s tenacity in midfield will be key for Spurs in this game, and he is fully rested after being ineligible for the trip to Frankfurt. But against a midfield featuring conductors Rodri and Bernardo Silva, energy and bite often result in a player committing multiple fouls. Gallagher committed two fouls in Spurs’ last home game vs West Ham, and expect a repeat performance here.
