Golf: US Open 2026 Preview

US Open 2026 Preview

While World Cup 2026 fever is gripping the sporting world, there are some huge events in other sports throughout this week.

And perhaps none are bigger than the latest renewal of the US Open, a golfing major which always delivers high levels of quality and drama.

The 126th edition of the tournament is to be held at the Shinnecock Hills Golf Club on Long Island, New York, one of the most influential and iconic courses on the planet.

World No1 Scottie Scheffler is the big favourite to lift the one major trophy that has so far eluded him in his quest for a career Grand Slam, but these tournaments often do not follow the rule and form books.

And Scheffler’s T14 finish of just -2 at the recent PGA Championship further highlights that fact, with Englishman Aaron Rai unexpectedly winning the event against all the odds.

What surprises lie in wait at the US Open?

All questions will soon be answered, but first here is our tournament preview, complete with the latest golf odds from NetBet Sport.

And do not forget, the brilliant US Open Offer available online will see you credited with a £5 Free Bet when you place £10+ in qualifying bets on the tournament.

Where can I watch US Open 2026 in the UK?

What happened at US Open 2025?

The 2025 edition of the US Open saw JJ Spaun win his first major title, the American finishing two strokes ahead of Robert MacIntyre.

Norway’s Viktor Hovland made up the rest of the podium, with Tyrrell Hatton, Carlos Ortiz and Cameron Young tied for fourth spot (+3).

Scheffler finished tied for seventh alongside Jon Rahm and Sam Burns (+4).

Scheffler’s price is the lowest by a considerable distance, with his best US Open finish coming in 2022 – when he tied for the runner-up spot.

Second favourite McIlroy, who won his second consecutive Masters title earlier in the year, claimed the US Open as his first major way back in 2011.

The Northern Irishman finished eight strokes ahead of Jason Day that year, and he secured a runner-up spot in both 2023 and 2024.

And there are some other previous winners in the outright frontrunners on NetBet, including two-time champion Dechambeau (2020 & 2024), Clark (2023), Fitzpatrick (2022), Rahm (2021) and Rose (2013).

Fitzpatrick finished second at the recent Canadian Open, which should help put him in a good position to compete for another US Open crown.

We cannot wait for the action to get underway!
