World Cup – Odds & Betting Tips 23/06

World Cup Betting Tips June 23

England’s long-awaited return to action in the 2026 World Cup is the main event on Tuesday evening, when they face Ghana in a 9pm kick-off UK time at Boston Stadium. Thomas Tuchel’s men shrugged off a lethargic first-half against Croatia in their opening game to secure a healthy 4-2 victory. Ghana also bagged three points, beating Panama 1-0 with a goal five minutes into stoppage time.

Norway and Senegal will get us off to an early start on Tuesday with a 1am kick-off at New York New Jersey Stadium. An Erling Haaland double helped down Iraq 4-1 in Norway’s Group I opener while Senegal were hit by a Kylian Mbappe double in a 3-1 loss to France.

The day’s insomniac pleaser arrives with a 4am kick-off at San Francisco Bay Arena where Jordan and Algeria go head-to-head in an attempt to gain their first points in Group J.

The evening’s entertainment gets underway at 6pm with Portugal facing Uzbekistan at Houston Stadium. The Portuguese were held to a surprise 1-1 draw by DR Congo in their first match while Uzbekistan were defeated 3-1 by Group K’s early leaders Colombia.

Norway vs Senegal: Anytime Goalscorer – Erling Haaland @ 1.91

Haaland did not disappoint on his World Cup debut, his brace against Iraq increasing his overall tally to 57 goals in 51 international appearances. It also means Norway have lost just one of their last 17 matches and that was a narrow 2-1 defeat by World Cup regulars Netherlands in March. Senegal were mesmerising in the first half of their game with France but could not turn possession into goals. After the break, France were rejuvenated and with Michael Olise’s creative spark and Mbappe’s finishing prowess, Senegal suffered their third loss in seven games. Their last outing against a European side before France? A 3-1 win against England at the City Ground in June last year. Norway are narrow favourites and it would be a brave decision not to back that man Haaland to keep doing what he does best.

Jordan vs Algeria: Bet Builder – Algeria to win, Over 2.5 goals and Amine Gouiri to score anytime @ 3.75

Jordan’s celebrations at qualifying for their first ever World Cup were not dented by the 3-1 defeat at the hands of Austria in their opening match. Just taking part has been a significant achievement but the reality is four defeats and a draw in their last five games. As the likes of Cape Verde and Curacao have shown though, winning a point somewhere along the way would be icing on the World Cup cake. Algeria fell victim to the Lionel Messi World Cup roadshow in the 3-0 loss to Argentina. They will surely prove their worth as strong favourites here @ 1.57 for the win, with Jordan @ 5.40. Marseille striker Amine Gouiri has been their man in form, with four goals in his last four internationals leading into the tournament.

Portugal vs Uzbekistan: Player To Score or Assist – Bruno Fernandes @ 1.74

A 1-1 draw with DR Congo was not in the World Cup script for Portugal, especially after PSG’s Joao Neves had fired them into a sixth-minute lead. The stats tell an interesting story. Portugal completed 724 accurate passes, over three times that of DR Congo (195) but it was their opponents who led the way with shots, 8-7. It won’t come as much surprise to learn that Cristiano Ronaldo was the game’s top shot taker with three. Uzbekistan’s 3-1 defeat to Colombia was their third in a row and they have only scored two goals in their last four games. Bruno Fernandes has four goals and two assists in his last six appearances for Portugal and is due more after blanks in his last two games.

England vs Ghana: Anytime Goalscorer – Harry Kane @ 1.73

It has been a World Cup enjoyed by the elite goalscorers so far and Harry Kane got in on the act with two strikes of his own in the 4-2 win over Croatia. Five goals in his last four games in an England shirt shows that Kane’s recent form is just as impressive as his overall record of 81 in 115 international appearances. Ghana’s 1-0 win over Panama was secured by a close-range finish from Caleb Yirenkyi five minutes into stoppage time. It was Ghana’s first victory in an eight-game run that has included six straight defeats. A lot of their hopes rest with Antoine Semenyo, who hasn’t yet carried his club form with Manchester City to the international stage. He has just three goals from 35 appearances for Ghana. For this game you cannot ignore Kane’s numbers, especially when he is due to face fragile opponents and he’s England’s penalty taker. Kane is the man who gets our backing here.
