Everton vs Chelsea Preview

Recent results

Everton drew 2-2 at Hull last Sunday, which means the points were shared in four of their six Premier League games thus far. But David Moyes’ men did beat Ipswich in the previous match hosted at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, a 1-0 victory courtesy of a goal from Thierno Barry.

Chelsea returned to winning ways on Matchday 6 by thrashing Bournemouth 5-1 at Stamford Bridge, with Jordan Henderson the surprise star of the show thanks to two goals and an assist. After winning 3-2 at Fulham on the opening weekend of the season, Xabi Alonso’s side lost each of the last two on the road vs Arsenal (2-0) and – more disappointingly – Brentford (3-0).

Head-to-head record

Everton ended a run of four matches without a win or goal vs Chelsea in quite spectacular fashion back in March.

The Toffees won 3-0 at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, meaning they have lost just one of their last nine home Premier League games vs the Blues – winning six of those contests.

Team news

Vitalii Mykolenko is the only injury concern for Everton. If the Ukraine international misses out, expect Jarrad Branthwaite to retain his spot at left-back. Ex-Chelsea winger Tyrique George is an option to come in and freshen up the Toffees’ attack, while midfielder Hayden Hackney is perhaps a player Moyes may consider, given the need to retain possession against a transition-based team like Alonso’s.

Jamie Gittens, Reece James and Emmanuel Emegha are the notable absentees from a Chelsea perspective. Moises Caicedo returned against Bournemouth and made a huge difference in midfield, so expect him to link up with Henderson once again, with Pedro Neto and Pep Chavarria as the wing-backs.

Everton vs Chelsea Betting Tips

Both teams to score – Yes @ 1.52

When it comes to Premier League matches involving Chelsea, it is always wise to look at the BTTS odds. The formidable front three of Pedro, Palmer and Rogers can tear any side apart, but the fact remains that the Blues failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 23 top-flight matches, a quite extraordinary record. Add in that Everton scored in all but one game so far this season, and you have a pick which feels close to a banker.

Player to score or assist – Joao Pedro @ 1.73

Pedro has made a quite ridiculous start to the 2026-27 season, tallying two goal contributions in four of his five Premier League outings. The Brazilian scored twice vs Bournemouth last time out, and it would come as a shock to absolutely no one if he were to register a first goal against Everton on the weekend. Failing that, he always looks capable of adding to his three assists for the campaign!

Player to score or assist – Morgan Rogers @ 2.03

To say Rogers has made a good start to his Chelsea career would be something of an understatement. The England international contributed a goal or an assist in five of his first six Premier League outings for the Blues, as well as recording three assists in the 6-3 victory over Leeds in the EFL Cup. At this point in time, Rogers boasts eight goal contributions in as many matches across all competitions, so getting him at higher than evens to continue his positive run feels almost too good to be true!

Anytime goalscorer – Thierno Barry @ 2.80

Barry is far from the most aesthetically-pleasing striker, especially when compared to the likes of Pedro. However, no one can really question his output this season. The Frenchman scored six goals in eight appearances across all competitions, netting in each of the last two vs Ipswich and Hull. Up against a Chelsea back-line which has forgotten what a clean sheet feels like, the big front man may just fill his boots again.
