Grand National Preview<\/h2>\n

This race is arguably the most famous in the world and anyone with varying degrees of betting expertise can have a crack at this annual event. First run in 1839, Lottery – what an ironic name – was the inaugural winner of this headscratcher of a race. Since then, there have been many dramatic editions of this race. In 1993, the race dubbed “The National That Never Was” was “won” by Esha Ness, but this running was removed from history as there was a false start as numerous runners broke the tapes.<\/p>\n

The most well-known horse to have won this race was Red Rum, who captured this event three times in the 1970s. The horse, trained by Ginger McCain, became a national celebrity due to his success and his name will forever be associated with the Grand National.<\/p>\n

In more recent years, Tiger Roll became the first horse since Red Rum to win the race more than once. He won in 2018 and 2019 but he won’t be lining up this year.<\/p>\n

That means this year’s renewal is wide-open and should be another thrilling race around four-and-a-half gruelling miles at Aintree. Thirty fences stand between these 40 horses and victory.<\/p>\n

Grand National Betting Tips<\/h2>\n

This race is always the toughest betting contest of the year and this year is no different, although we have a rock solid 4\/1 (5.00) in Cloth Cap. Trained by Jonjo O’Neill and ridden by Tom Scudamore, this horse has done nothing but improve and at nine years of age, looks primed to run a big race. However, this horse likes to lead from the start and doing that round this course is very tough. He jumps well, stays well and acts on any ground but can be taken on.<\/p>\n

The two horses we like are bigger odds but fit the right profile for this historic race. Both horses have that touch of class needed to win the Grand National along with experience of staying races.<\/p>\n

Minella Times, trained by Champion Hurdle and Gold Cup winning-trainer Henry de Bromhead, has a great chance to add another significant race to his fantastic career. This horse is ultra-consistent and a fantastic jumper, which you need round here.<\/p>\n

Bristol De Mai is the class horse of the race and has run in Gold Cups, as well as winning Grade One contests in the past. He should run a huge race.<\/p>\n

Minella Times to win – 10\/1<\/a> (11.00<\/a>)<\/h2>\n

This horse is hoping to capture another win for Ireland on these shores and he can cap off a magnificent season for de Bromhead and jockey Rachael Blackmore. This race can be a bit of a lottery but this horse ticks every box and the drying ground will be in his favour. The trip might be slightly unknown territory but Blackmore believes her partner has a great chance and he is all set to run a big race.<\/p>\n

Bristol de Mai to finish in the first four – 25\/1<\/a> (26.00<\/a>)<\/h2>\n

Out of all the horses in the field, this might be the most familiar to punters. He has contested Gold Cups and won three Grade One chases at Haydock in the past, showing he is probably the best horse in the race on form over the years. Bristol de Mai is now 11 but is still running well and this flat track should suit him. Haydock is very similar to Aintree, a racecourse where he has had huge success, and this dashing grey should go close. At 25s, he looks a fantastic bet.<\/p>\n
