Tailing McIlroy closely in the odds are world number one Scottie Scheffler and Masters champion Jon Rahm. The former is operating with a near-unprecedented level of consistency. He has made seven consecutive top five finishes prior to this week\u2019s major, not to mention a top 10 finish at every major this year.<\/p>\n

Rahm hasn\u2019t quite been able to maintain the performance levels that resulted in his green jacket triumph, but he is among the very best on his day and has shown some promising recent performances. He finished T10 at the U.S. Open, and his T3 finish at this competition in 2021 cannot be overlooked.<\/p>\n

In what looks like an extremely competitive field, there will be plenty of money outside these favourites. Viktor Hovland, Tommy Fleetwood, Brooks Koepka and Rickie Fowler have all been attracting attention ahead of what promises to be a thrilling four days of golf in the north west.<\/p>\n
