Day 4 showcases the Festival highlight – the Cheltenham Gold Cup – at 4pm, where household names will do battle up the famous hill again.<\/span><\/p>\n

This race for just four-year-olds is normally a good guide for future big races like the Champion Hurdle, and there are some contenders in this race who could fit that bill. Willie Mullins has some strong chances in this race, especially with unbeaten favourite Proactif, who has won well on both his starts so far. However, we think Dan Skelton\u2019s Maestro Contil will take a lot of beating. He has won all three races in his career so far, including an easy win at this track in January – and his form stands up to the very best.<\/span><\/p>\n

2pm \u2013 County Hurdle \u2013 2m1f<\/b><\/h2>\n

Another maximum field goes to post with a hugely competitive handicap, one of Cheltenham\u2019s many puzzles to solve throughout the week. With 24 lining up at Prestbury Park, we can pick a couple here who could make the final day one to savour from a betting perspective. And we believe the Skeltons have another live chance to follow on from Maestro Conti. Sinnatra has being running well all season, including facile victories at Sandown and Warwick. He looks the type of improver who is tailor-made for a race like this and can give the Skeltons another win. At bigger odds, Jubilee Alpha can go well. He is a tough and consistent horse, and he can be in with a chance at the finish.<\/span><\/p>\n

2.40pm \u2013 Paddy Power Mares\u2019 Chase (Grade 2) \u2013 2m4f<\/b><\/h2>\n

Only nine go to post for this Mares’ Chase, but all nine are class horses and the first five or six in the betting all have chances to win this valuable prize. Although Dinoblue is a very worthy favourite for this contest, we genuinely believe the Skeltons can have a field day, as their Panic Attack has a great chance to make it four wins from four this campaign. She has been in stellar form for a while now and jumps fantastically. She also has course form and acts on any surface, so could be the one to side with.<\/span><\/p>\n

3.20pm \u2013 Albert Bartlett Novices\u2019 Hurdle (Grade 1) \u2013 3m<\/b><\/h2>\n

This prestigious Grade 1 event sees a full field of 22 go to post for what can turn out to be a real slog. With the ground good to soft, that sees the field become even more condensed as those mudlarks don\u2019t really have an advantage like in previous years. The Irish contingent have a very strong hand in this race, and we think it can go the way of Willie Mullins and Doctor Steinberg. He has done very little wrong this season and has improved with every run, including a comfortable success at Leopardstown in a Grade 1 last month. He sets the standard with that win. At a bigger price, Kripticjim could sneak a place. He has been in great form this term and comes here with a good chance following a Grade 2 win here last time.<\/span><\/p>\n

4pm \u2013 Cheltenham Gold Cup Chase (Grade 1) \u2013 3m2f<\/b><\/h2>\n

Arguably the biggest race of the whole season is the Cheltenham Gold Cup. This has been won down the years by some of the biggest legends in the sport, including Arkle, Dawn Run, Best Mate, Kauto Star and Galopin des Champs. The latter sadly won\u2019t be back for another shot at Gold Cup glory but his stablemate, Gaelic Warrior, is favourite for this. He has all the credentials to run well, but this longer trip could find him out. Last year\u2019s winner, Inothewayyurthinkin, is back again but hasn\u2019t been in great form this term. That leaves us to select King George winner, The Jukebox Man, as this year\u2019s selection. He is improving all the time and this extra distance could be just up his street, following recent wins at Kempton and Haydock.<\/span><\/p>\n

4.40pm \u2013 Princess Royal Challenge Cup \u2013 3m2f<\/b><\/h2>\n

Dubbed the \u201cAmateur Gold Cup\u201d within the racing fraternity, this race has double the runners that the Gold Cup has, making it a much trickier contest to predict. This is the prize that all amateur jockeys want to win and it can go the way of Ireland yet again with Panda Boy. This 10-year-old has been hugely impressive in his last two victories, culminating in success at Naas. The trip should hold no issues and he can take this prize back across the Irish Sea. A big danger could be Emmet Mullins\u2019 Its On The Line. He has the excellent Derek O\u2019Connor booked to ride and might be the type to give our selection most to think about.<\/span><\/p>\n

5.20pm \u2013 Martin Pipe Conditional Jockeys\u2019 Handicap Hurdle \u2013 2m4f<\/b><\/h2>\n

The final race of the whole meeting is arguably one of the toughest to predict, as it is the last of those fiendishly difficult handicaps to choose from. There are plenty in with a shout of picking up some late Festival glory and, once again, we think the Irish can round off the meeting in style. Roc Dino is our choice, even if he is considered Willie Mullins\u2019 second string. He has run well twice without winning this season and is open to further improvement in this bigger field. A danger at long odds could be Andashan. He won handsomely at Newbury on his last appearance and will enjoy the ground.<\/span><\/p>\n
