Can England finally end all the years of hurt? It is down to Thomas Tuchel to finally get the Three Lions over the line. England were eliminated by France in the 2022 quarter-finals, though back-to-back European Championship final appearances proves their ability to compete in the later rounds. And with Harry Kane scoring goals for fun whenever he plays, as well as the imperious form of Declan Rice, the Three Lions look a very, very strong outfit. A qualifying record of eight wins from eight, 22 goals scored and zero conceded only helps to support that statement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Argentina – 9.00<\/b><\/h2>\n

The reigning world and Copa America champions are perhaps not quite the same team we saw in Qatar three-and-a-half years ago. Captain Lionel Messi is now 38 and nearing the very end of his career, while key players in Alexis Mac Allister and Cristian Romero endured tough Premier League seasons. Although, Argentina still strolled through CONMEBOL qualifying with 12 wins from 18 – including victories home (4-1) and away (0-1) vs Brazil. So rule them out at your own peril!<\/span><\/p>\n

Brazil – 9.00<\/b><\/h2>\n

Carlo Ancelotti has been tasked with reviving Brazil to its former greatness. The five-time world champions last lifted the trophy in 2002, and lost out to Croatia in the 2022 quarters. And the Selecao\u2019s qualification campaign was far from convincing, with just eight wins recorded in 18 games. So it is strange to see them at such a low price, even if the squad is littered with high-quality players in the likes of Gabriel Magalhaes, Bruno Guimaraes, Neymar, Raphinha and Vinicius Junior. The awakening of a sleeping giant in 2026? Or another unconvincing campaign? The latter looks more likely.<\/span><\/p>\n

Portugal – 11.00<\/b><\/h2>\n

Portugal seem to be the team flying under the radar, made clear by their relatively high price here. Roberto Martinez has arguably the best collection of midfielders available at international level in Vitinha, Joao Neves, Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva. Add in veteran forward Cristiano Ronaldo, a world-beating left-back in Nuno Mendes and other top names, and the recently-crowned Nations League champions could finally be ready to end their wait for a first World Cup title.<\/span><\/p>\n

Since their 2014 World Cup win, inconsistency has plagued Germany. Back-to-back group stage exits in 2018 and 2022 is not befitting the status of four-time winners. Die Mannschaft performed better at a home European Championship in 2024, losing out to eventual winners Spain in the quarters. However, the Germans are not the team once feared by the rest – and it is clear that Julian Nagelsmann is overseeing a period of transition. His team should cruise into the knockout stage, but challenging the likes of Spain, France and England looks a step too far in 2026.<\/span><\/p>\n

Netherlands – 21.00<\/b><\/h2>\n

The Dutch are regulars in the World Cup knockout stage, although the current squad seems to lack the real star quality to challenge the elite – particularly in attack.
