\"Dimitri<\/p>\n

Petr Cech-Goalkeeper<\/h4>\n

A strong performance from the Czech Republic goalkeeper. He saved his team on multiple occasions and kept the score line to a minimum. Couldn\u2019t do anything about the goal.<\/p>\n

Matteo Darmian- Right Back<\/h4>\n

The right back looked solid in Italy\u2019s victory over Belgium. Defended well before being replaced after an hour.<\/p>\n

Leonardo Bonucci- Centre Back<\/h4>\n

Bonucci was a titan alongside Giorgio Chiellini in the Italian defence. Chelsea want to sign him, but they\u2019ll have to pay big money after that performance.<\/p>\n

Jerome Boateng- Centre Back<\/h4>\n

The goal line clearance from Boateng highlighted his quick feet and awareness. If only Manchester City had decided not to sell him.<\/p>\n

Danny Rose- Left Back<\/h4>\n

Attacked with verve and speed down the left wing, just as Kyle Walker did on the right hand side. Was defending the cross which lead to the Russian goal, but defensive mistakes were made before that and it\u2019s unfair to single him out as responsible.<\/p>\n

Andres Iniesta- Midfield<\/h4>\n

A superb performance from the Spanish magician which culminated in him providing the cross for Pique\u2019s goal.<\/p>\n

Toni Kroos- Midfield<\/h4>\n

Kroos dictated the speed and tempo of Germany\u2019s game against Ukraine and was at his best. His passing was a joy to behold.<\/p>\n

Dimitri Payet- Midfield<\/h4>\n

All eyes were on Paul Pogba, but it was Payet who stole the show. His goal was a contender for goal of the tournament.<\/p>\n

\nWayne Rooney- Midfield<\/h4>\n

Rooney performed a very similar role to Kroos in the English midfield and has drawn comparisons to Paul Scholes in his performance against Russia. This makes it all the more baffling when he was substituted with 10 minutes to go.<\/p>\n

Arkadiusz Milik- Midfield<\/h4>\n

Was a constant thorn in the Northern Irish defence and showed just why he\u2019s one of Europe\u2019s best young players. His goal was also a good finish.<\/p>\n

Olivier Giroud- Striker<\/h4>\n

Not many strikers scored in the first round, but Giroud did, and arguably should have had a second. A strong performance which silenced his pre-tournament critics.<\/p>\n
