With Wimbledon 2016 just around the corner, all eyes are on the competitors as they gear up for the world\u2019s most famous tennis event.<\/p>\n

But there\u2019s one (particularly pretty) face notably absent from this year\u2019s line-up – tennis\u2019 former golden girl, Maria Sharapova.<\/p>\n

In the sports scandal of the year, the 29 year old Russian player – and world\u2019s highest earning female athlete – was\u00a0handed a minimum two year ban\u00a0after testing positive for taking Meldonium at the Australian Open in January.<\/p>\n

Following the news, almost all of Sharapova\u2019s sponsorhip deals fell through and she was suspended by a number of organisations, including the UN, who dropped her as a Goodwill Ambassador.<\/p>\n

The scandal has left the player\u2019s career – and reputation – in tatters. And yet, her biggest sponsor, Nike, recently lifted their suspension on the star\u2019s endorsement deal, saying \u201cWe hope to see Maria back on the court and will continue to partner with her.\u201d<\/p>\n
