Fontwell Ladies Evening Predictions, Betting Tips and Race Preview

Fontwell Racecourse

NetBet are live at Fontwell on Thursday, sponsoring three races on the card and it promises to be a thrilling evening of high-class jumps racing.

Here are our predictions below.

16:40 NetBet Sport Handicap Hurdle

Tip: Pension Madness (12/1) looks to have the best chance out of the runners in what is a very open field. There’s excellent value in this horse, despite having minimal success this season, including a distant fourth-place finish last time out. It’s a slight step-up in distance for him, which causes concern over his staying ability, but in what looks set to be a large field, there’s each-way value here.

17:15 NetBet Best Odds Guaranteed Handicap Chase

Tip: Code Of Law (9/4)did well at 10/1 odds here back at the end of May, but has struggled since, pulling up at Cartmel and finishing fifth in a field of six at Market Rasen. However, a return to familiar surroundings in Fontwell, where he won at this meeting last year could prove beneficial. The distance should be no problem, nor should the ground.

17:50 Josie O’Leary Pineapple Novices’ Hurdle

Tip: Competition (11/8) has been consistent all season and has won on his last two runs, both at Uttoxeter. Sam Twiston-Davies was jockey on both occasions and will be looking for a hat-trick of wins in 2018. Prior to the double at Uttoxeter, Competition finished third at Hamilton and was beaten by a nose at Yarmouth, albeit over much shorter distances.

18:20 Finesse Hairdressing Sponsored By T.I.Engineering Crane Services Handicap Hurdle

Tip: Holyrale (6/5)was mightily impressive last time out, winning by 13 lengths at Worcester. However, consistency has been an issue this year as he was beaten by 8 lengths the race before that. It’s hard to gauge which Holyrale will show up in this one. He’s been among the market leaders all season, has two wins, but is usually there or thereabouts. Has not finished outside the top three in 2018.

18:50 netbet.co.uk Novices’ Handicap Chase

Tips: Eric The Third (11/8) has been very consistent since winning at Newton Abbot back in June. He hasn’t finished outside the top two since and handled the step up in distance last time out to win by 9 lengths. His form is the most impressive compared to the rest of the field and providing he jumps well, should win this fairly comfortably.

19:20 Yeomans Honda Handicap Hurdle

Tips: Whatthebutlersaw (2/1)has run just once this year, but defied a starting price of 16/1 to finish second by a length and a half at Huntingdon back in May. He ran twice last year too, winning on both occasions and should be at a decent price come the start of the race. There’ll be no problems with staying the distance and jockey Mark Grant is very familiar with the horse.

19:50 Sheik Persad Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race

Tips: Longhouse Sale (4/9) is hard to look past here. The Dan Skelton-trained horse has won all four races so far, all by huge distances, but that means that value might not be too high here. Has started as favourite on three of those four races and won the last one by 14 lengths. Better value here is for Represented, who had an impressive debut, but struggled to back it up on it’s second appearance.
