Royal Ascot 2021: Day 3 Preview, Odds and Betting Tips

Royal Ascot is back for another action-packed day and our expert tipster has cast his eye over every race on day three to give you his analysis and views of the highest quality horse racing anywhere in the world.

Royal Ascot Day Three

Thursday 17th June

Ascot, Berkshire

Live on ITV

This is the meeting where all trainers and jockeys want to get at least one winner. Whether you are Aiden O’Brien or Ryan Moore or one of the less-heralded jockey and trainer combinations, this is a meeting where everyone wants a piece of the action.

We have the best horse racing odds available at NetBet and as ever, the five days at Royal Ascot look as difficult as ever to predict.

So, with a tough third day in prospect, let’s take a closer look at what our expert tipster has picked and get the latest horse racing tips for day three.

2.30pm – Norfolk Stakes – 5f

This is another one of those famous sprints that Ascot is famous for. However, with thunderstorms and heavy rain forecast overnight that will slow the going ahead of day three.

Due to the nature of the weather, we really like Instinctive Move. He won his only race at Bath and was outpaced early on. With the ground due to become softer, that could suit our selection.

The Irish challenge is always strong and we think Aidan O’Brien’s Cadamosto also has a live chance. He won at Dundalk on his debut and O’Brien and jockey Ryan Moore know how to win these top races.

Tip: INSTINCTIVE MOVE8/1

Danger: Cadamosto – 9/2

3.05 – Hampton Court Stakes – 1m2f

Ten runners line-up for this race and there are some classy individuals in this contest. Although a fairly uninventive selection, it is hard to look past Mohaafeth.

This strapping colt was due to line-up in the Derby before he was pulled out. He has won all three races in convincing fashion this term and the 5/4 on offer is pretty generous considering his form.

We think his biggest foe could be Movin Time. His form in unexposed and he is definitely an improver. The manner of his win at Newmarket last time was taking and he looks sure to run well.

Tip: MOHAAFETH5/4

Danger: Movin Time – 9/2

3.40pm – Ribblesdale Stakes – 1m4f

Another interesting race on paper with some top-class horses lining-up. The 13 entries all have a decent level of form and it is 11/4 the field which shows what an open race this is.

Our pick of this crop is Eshaada. She has won both his races on a softer surface, which is what we are likely to see on day three and she can add another win for Jim Crowley, who we think will win on Mohaafeth.

The favourite, Noon Star, can give our selection a fight. She finished second behind Oaks winner, Snowfall, at York and will no doubt give her best at this trip.

Tip: ESHAADA5/1

Danger: Noon Star – 11/4

4.15pm – Gold Cup – 2m4f

This race is arguably the main centrepiece of the whole meeting with some legendary horses winning this down the years. Stradivarius has the chance to make it four Gold Cups in a row and while he is not getting any younger at seven, he should still have the beating of this field.

Subjectivist can provide an upset if Stradivarius is off his game. This stout stayer is improving and likes to lead from the front. That could play in Stradivarius’ hands but he looks a tough nut to crack.

Tip: STRADIVARIUS5/6

Danger: Subjectivist – 6/1

5pm – Britannia Stakes – 1m

It is another one of those nigh-on impossible races to try and dissect and pick a winner or a value bet. Having said that, we have picked two we think will run a big race.

Raadobarg is the one we are keeping our fingers crossed for. He is in great heart and has rattled off a hattrick this season already. He has had a hike in the weights thanks to his successes but he should be on the right side of the handicapper still.

One at longer odds that is set to run a big race is Aerion Power. He has won all three races in handicap company and is big odds. He looks sure to have a say at the finishing post.

Tip: RAADOBARG15/2

Each-way: Aerion Power – 22/1

5.35pm – King George V Stakes – 1m4f

This race is for three-year-olds only and there are some very promising types who look set to make the required step-up to Group class.

Nineteen runners will be down at the start and we think Frankie Dettori can get a winner on the board on day three thanks to First Light. This John Gosden-trained horse has only run three races before but was undeniably impressive when winning at Ripon by 12 lengths on his last outing.

Ralph Beckett’s Surefire will also go close. Ridden by Hector Crouch, he cruised to victory at Leicester last time and can improve further.

Tip: FIRST LIGHT5/1

Danger: Surefire – 15/2

6.10pm – Buckingham Palace Stakes – 7f

The final race of the third day is another of those devilish bumper fields. Can we pick a winner for you? We hope so but it is a tricky task to look at the form.

One horse’s form that does look rock solid is Aldaary. This horse can give Jim Crowley a hattrick of winners on the day and he could be hard to beat, with three wins from four career starts.

The each-way bet could be Dance Fever. He is lightly raced but has a good level of form over this distance. This four-year old could certainly run into a place.

Tip: ALDAARY11/2

Each-way: Dance Fever –  14/1
