US Open 2021 Tennis Preview, Odds and Betting Tips

The 141st US Open begins in earnest on Monday August 30th at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens, New York. Novak Djokovic is currently the slight men’s favourite, but undoubtedly there’s concerns over his ability to pick up a 21st career Grand Slam after the Olympics. The men’s tournament is going to be an interesting one, with a number of top contenders like Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev involved, but no-shows from the likes of Stan Wawrinka, Dominic Thiem, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.

In the women’s tournament, Naomi Osaka at 6/1 looks like a fascinating bet, with Ashleigh Barty a pretty notable favourite to take home the championship. We’re also missing some star power in the women’s game, with the Williams sisters Serena and Venus skipping the tournament with injury for the first time in almost two decades.

US Open 2021 Betting Tips

We understand that the most likely outcome is for Novak Djokovic to come out on top in this tournament, but after the Olympic games and his spectacular exit, we think there are definitely other options that are worth taking a look at in NYC. Jannik Sinner is popular as a 60/1 outsider for E/W bets, but in terms of legitimate contenders, that 4/1 for Daniil Medvedev is a great bet. If we had to recommend a potential men’s winner, we’d say go for Daniil Medvedev because that price won’t come around too often for him.

In the women’s game, Ashleigh Barty as favourite looks worth a bet at 16/5, but it’s hard to look past Naomi Osaka at 6/1. Iga Swiatek is also somebody who is capable of winning this tournament at 17/1, while we also like Karolina Pliskova at the same price. If you need to look for an outsider, the field isn’t great, but we could maybe see a strong tournament for the 33/1 Jennifer Brady. She almost certainly won’t be winning, but an E/W bet might be worth something to you. If you’re doing a mult-bet, maybe adding Osaka to reach the semi-finals are 6/4 would be interesting perhaps with Novak Djokovic to make the final at 4/9.
