Spurs v Manchester United Football Preview

We’re looking at two teams who absolutely need a win this weekend after a disaster last outing in the Premier League.

Manchester United were comprehensively smashed by Liverpool at Old Trafford last Sunday, taking a 5-0 drubbing in front of their home crowd.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is still at the wheel, but if he can’t get a positive result down in London, he will be under serious pressure from the board and the fans at Manchester United.

Spurs 1-0 loss to West Ham was not quite as egregious, and they did their best to rectify it in the league cup midweek, but fans are still unsure where to go with the club under new manager Nuno Santo.

Our NetBet win probability counter has this one swaying in favour of the visitors, with United currently sitting at 40% and the hosts at 33%, with a draw pretty close at 27%.

The odds are considerable for this one, so there are real money making opportunities here if you can find them.

We’ve taken a look at some of those odds, and have made out picks and predictions for the weekend’s big game.

Spurs v Manchester United Football Odds

The bookies think that this is going to be a close game, given both sides’ recent poor runs of form, and they aren’t separated by much. Visitors Manchester United are priced as slight favourites at 13/10, while Spurs are underdogs at 37/20. The draw is the fascinating bet of the evening at 47/20.

Draw – 47/20

This Manchester United team, and the Spurs one for that matter, haven’t just become bad players overnight. Something appears to be wrong within both sides, and it remains to be seen how much they can rectify this. Despite both teams being the victims of shutout defeats last weekend, they both have some of the best attacking options in the world, coupled with some really subpar defences of late. We could see this being a high-scoring draw.

Over 3.5 – 33/20

This is a fascinating option, given that betting this market in United’s last game would have won you quite a bit of money. This allows for a 2-2 draw, or a drubbing of 3-1 or above either side, which is also very possible. United will be like wounded animals, and will want to attack Spurs on a consistent and brutal basis, which will leave them open for counter attacks.

Cristiano Ronaldo to score anytime – Evens

If there is one player in that Manchester United team who hates losing, it’s Cristiano Ronaldo. He’ll have been stewing on that Liverpool result, one of the worst he’s suffered in his career, and he will be doing anything to brighten United fans’ spirits and get the team back on track. He may even score more than one, which is priced at a massive 15/2.
