Last week’s clash of the German giants firmly secured Bayern’s place as the favourites to retain their Bundesliga crown. Their 3-2 win at Signal Iduna Park was filled with plenty of controversy, leading to Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham receiving a fine for suggesting match-fixing could have been at play in his post-match interview. The result increased Munich’s lead at the summit to four points, although there is still a long way to go.

In Italy, it is AC Milan who have climbed to the top of the table as previous front-runners Napoli fell at the hands of Atalanta in a five-goal thriller. Just one point separates the Milan clubs at the top, potentially setting up a feisty derby at the San Siro come February.

Barcelona are another team chasing the top four, and should they win their game in hand, Xavi’s side will find themselves just a few points shy. It is their great rivals Real Madrid who look favourites to take back their La Liga crown, with Los Blancos on a nine match winning run in all competitions. Things could be set to tighten up this weekend as Atletico travel to the Bernabeu for an exciting Madrid derby.

Just one defeat in their last 11 league games has seen Rennes climb to 2nd place, and they will face off against Nice this weekend, who have picked up one win in five. The battle for the four places below PSG is considerably more exciting than the title race, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side having already established an 11 point lead.

This Week’s European Football Betting Tips

*Odds are correct at the time of publication and are subject to change.

RB Leipzig vs Monchengladbach: RB Leipzig win – 4/5

These two are locked on points in the Bundesliga, but we don’t think that will remain the case beyond this weekend. Leipzig have picked up 15 of their 18 points on home soil, whilst the visitors have won just four of theirs on the road. With Monchengladbach having conceded 10 goals in their last two, this Leipzig high on confidence after beating City should take the points.

Stade Rennes vs Nice: Draw – 49/20

Nice aren’t in great form, but they do have a talented squad and are potentially the best of the rest. Rennes however have plenty of goals in their front-line and have tasted defeat rarely in the last couple of months. An even tie on paper.

Sassuolo vs Lazio: Lazio win – 29/20

Good odds for a side that have the league’s top goalscorer. With 13 in 14 games, Ciro Immobile looks set for another 20+ goal season, and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has impressed from midfield. Lazio are better than the table suggests.

Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid: Real Madrid win – 21/10

Real are on fire this season, in all competitions. They have kept four clean sheets in their last five, with Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior scoring goals for fun. It will be a feisty affair that we think Los Blancos will take three points from.
