European Football Accumulator
The return of Serie A means the return of the Italian title race. Inter will start 2022 with a four point lead over rivals AC Milan, but there is still a long way to go. At the half-way point, the battle for the Champions League places is also on. 4th to 8th places are separated by just seven points – there is plenty still to play for.
The race for top four is even closer over in Germany. RB Leipzig are sat in 10th, but are only two wins off of 4th place. The likes of Freiburg, Hoffenheim and Union Berlin will all have an outside chance of qualifying for Europe’s elite competition. Things aren’t so positive for Furth, who are already 13 points adrift and look destined for relegation to Serie B.
At the bottom of La Liga, Levante are also looking doomed. Their poor defensive record has seen them slump seven points behind safety. At the summit of the table, Sevilla will be looking to capitalise on their game in hand to take themselves within five points of league leaders Madrid, who are looking to claim their 2nd title in five years.
PSG look home and dry as they seek to win back the Ligue 1 title. Last season’s Champions Lille are looking a fraction of the side that impressed last campaign, and now face a battle just to establish a place back in the European spots.

AC Milan vs AS Roma: Draw – 11/5
AC Milan have got the better of recent meets, but Jose Mourinho’s sides are never easy to beat. On their day, Roma have the talent to upset the odds. Ultimately we think it’s a fairly even match-up. Milan have faltered in some big games against the likes of Fiorentina and Napoli, so we’re not overly confident in them rising to the occasion.
Fiorentina vs Udinese: Fiorentina win – 20/29
Only two teams have picked up more points than the in-form Fiorentina in the last five games. Dusan Vlahovic ended 2021 as the league’s top goalscorer, and there’s no reason why his fine finishing won’t continue in 2022. He’ll be hoping to fire his side to a top four finish.
Osasuna vs Athletic Bilbao: Draw – 17/10
Just two points separates these sides in La Liga, and neither team is in the greatest form. Osasuna have drawn five of their last nine, and Bilbao have drawn five in 10. Inaki Williams could be the difference maker, but ultimately we can’t split these two.
Cadiz vs Sevilla: Sevilla win – 5/8
A win is crucial if Sevilla want to mount a serious challenge for the title. Their success has been built on solid foundations, and the visitors have the best defensive record in the league. Given only one team has scored fewer than Cadiz, we can’t see any outcome other than an away win.
