Wales vs Austria: Wales win – 9/5

There is just something about this Wales team that gives you the belief that they can get the job done – especially on home soil. They have lost just once in their last 18 home games, including a recent 1-1 draw with FIFA’s number one ranked side Belgium in the group stages. Rob Page’s side have not qualified for a World Cup finals since 1958. With the nation’s hopes and dreams resting on the shoulders of the Dragons, we fully believe they can advance past an Austria side that finished fourth in their group and have lost two of their last three away games. Gareth Bale might not be playing much club football, but the Real Madrid man turns it on when he pulls on a Wales shirt.

Portugal vs Turkey: Portugal win – 4/11

It was heartbreak for Portugal when a last minute Serbian winner forced them to the play-offs. They will be looking to bounce back from the disappointing defeat in Porto on Thursday night. The hosts will welcome a Turkey side that has struggled against big teams despite their decent looking record. An underwhelming Euros campaign, which saw them lose all three games, was followed up by four wins in seven World Cup qualifiers. Whilst this seems like good form, the only real challenge they faced was on the road against the Netherlands, where they were hammered 6-1. Portugal have a squad filled with superstars, and although they have stuttered at times, Cristiano Ronaldo simply won’t miss an opportunity to play in what might be his last World Cup.

Italy vs North Macedonia: Italy win – 4/21

The European champions have proven that they know what it takes to win. They have lost just once in their last 41 matches, and we certainly don’t expect them to be beaten when the stakes are this high. North Macedonia impressed in the qualifying group stages, shocking the world with a 2-1 win over Germany in Duisburg. However, they simply won’t be able to compete with this dominant Italian side over 90 minutes. Roberto Mancini’s side are relentless in possession and boast one of the most experienced defences the international stage has ever seen – this might be the final step for the visitors.

DR Congo vs Morocco: Morocco win – 7/5

The five remaining African World Cup spots will also be filled over the next week, with 10 teams competing in two-legged play-offs for a place in Qatar later this year. DR Congo are looking to recover after their group stage exit at the AFCON, but they face a tricky tie against a strong Moroccan side. The visitors were knocked out by runners-up Egypt in the AFCON quarter-finals, but they were more than a match for the losing finalists. 10 of the 11 that started that game against Egypt apply their trade in Europe’s top five leagues, and Morocco will go into the clash confident in securing their second successive World Cup finals appearance.
