Belgium come into this game knowing three points secures them a spot in the round of 16, whilst Croatia simply need to avoid defeat. Given how poor Roberto Martinez’s side have been in the competition thus far, we’re not sure they’ve got enough to get past a solid Croatian outfit.
Safe in the knowledge that a point is enough, Croatia will look to soak up pressure and frustrate Belgium, looking for opportunities in transition. Morocco’s fate is in their own hands. A point may be enough to see them through depending on the Croatia vs Belgium result, but they can take away any uncertainties by beating Canada. The Canadians have impressed despite failing to pick up a point. They were by far the more dangerous side against Belgium and managed to take an early lead against Croatia. They will have another good go at Morocco, but the African nation should come out on top.
They are yet to concede in Qatar and were good value for their 2-0 win over Belgium. Hakim Ziyech looks revitalised in a Morocco shirt and will be crucial in driving his team into the knockout stages.

Japan vs Spain
You have to assume that Germany will beat Costa Rica comfortably. This will mean a point is not enough for Japan, who will be ruing their defeat to Costa Rica. They may have already scalped Germany, but they were allowed far too much space to transition in that game. Lightning doesn’t strike twice.
The Japanese will approach this crucial game with their characteristic energy, but they will struggle to create too many opportunities against a Spain side that rarely turn over possession. Expect Spain to control proceedings.

Costa Rica vs Germany
Germany need all three points, and they need to bump up their goal difference. We expect them to do just that. Costa Rica were much improved against Japan, but a Germany team that must win are a different beast.
They showed glimpses of being back to their best against Spain and could well have won the match if Antonio Rudiger had managed to stay onside. The first goal will be crucial, but once they get it, Germany should have plenty of joy.
