Liverpool vs Manchester United Football Preview

Despite what many are calling a write-off season for Liverpool, they have climbed to within six points of fourth-place Tottenham with a game in hand. The 2-0 midweek victory over Wolves was a third in four Premier League matches and a fourth successive league clean sheet. Jurgen Klopp’s Reds might just be finding form at the perfect time.

United travel to Anfield flying high off the back of securing their first trophy in the Erik ten Hag era. They continued their fine form with a 3-1 FA Cup win over West Ham on Wednesday, extending their unbeaten run to 11. Only two teams have accumulated more points on the road than United this season and they will fancy their chances of securing all three points in their rivals’ backyard.

Although the Red Devils were victorious in the reverse fixture, they have not fared well at Anfield in recent years. United have not won away at Liverpool since 2016 and have failed to find the net in six of the seven meetings since. However, a lot has changed under Ten Hag. United are reinvigorated under new stewardship, while Liverpool are not the same force as in previous years. We could be in for an end-to-end classic.

Premier League Football Odds

Opinions are divided on this tie, but NetBet has Liverpool as slight favourites at 2.36, with a United win at 2.76 and a draw priced at 3.52. Both teams to score is heavily backed at 1.53, with either side to keep a clean sheet viewed as far less likely at 2.40.

There have been at least four goals in four of the previous five meetings, with over 3.5 priced at 2.62 this weekend. They might be the away team but Marcus Rashford is still favourite to break the deadlock at 5.40, closely followed by Mo Salah (6.20) and Darwin Nunez (6.70).

Liverpool vs Manchester United Betting Tips

Over 3.5 goals – 2.62

There have to be goals in this fixture, right? When you look at the forwards on display and recent meetings, Sunday’s battle looks primed for a ‘we attack, you attack’ style game. Liverpool have been better defensively of late but this in-form United side is an entirely different prospect.

Man United draw no bet – 2.01

Double your stake if United continue their fine form with a win and money back if it ends all-square. Ten Hag’s side have lost just once in their last 22 matches in all competitions and have serious momentum ahead of their trip to Anfield.

Mo Salah anytime goalscorer – 2.71

Salah is just starting to find some form – the Egyptian has netted three in his last five appearances. He also just loves this fixture – he has scored in each of his last five outings against United, scoring nine goals in total in that time.
