Grand National Preview

Grand National winner Noble Yeats

We’re back at Aintree this week for one of the biggest horse racing events of the year, the Grand National. This 30-fence steeplechase is the crown in the National Hunt racing season and the most lucrative jump race on the continent.  We’ve previewed the upcoming race as some of the world’s best jockeys look to cement their place in the history books.

In honour of the prestigious race, NetBet are now paying six places (1/5) on the Grand National. Head online to browse the latest race odds and to place a bet of your own.

Grand National Preview

Rather unsurprisingly, there is a collection of truly elite horses running the Grand National this year. Corach Rambler currently leads the odds after successfully defending the Ultima Handicap Chase title at Cheltenham. Derek Fox looks set to recover from injury in time to take the reins for the iconic race, and he’ll be brimming with confidence after battling to a hard-fought victory a month ago.

He’ll be closely tailed going into the event by reigning champion Noble Yeats, who shocked the world to win the 2022 event at 50/1. The 8-year-old could become the 10th horse to win the Grand National on more than one occasion, a feat last accomplished by the incredible Tiger Roll. It is Sean Bowen who will be riding Noble Yeats for the fifth time after a strong fourth place showing at the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

Making up the top three is Delta Work. It was Jack Kennedy that rode the 10-year-old to a third-place finish at Aintree last year, but Keith Donoghue will be the man tasked with toppling the favourites. He rode Delta Work to victory in the Cheltenham Cross Country Chase but you fancy there might just be too much to do for the ageing gelding.

Grand National Betting Tips

Gaillard du Mesnil – 13.00

There aren’t too many 7-year-olds that win the Grand National, but Gaillard du Mesnil could cement his place in history as only the second to do it since the Second World War following Noble Yeats in 2022.

Not only was he ridden to victory in a Grade One chase at Leopardstown in December, but Patrick Mullins steered him to a first-place finish in the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham. Yes, he needed a bit of luck to get there, but he is improve with every race and has bags of potential.

Ain’t That A Shame E/W – 17.00

Each way bets don’t come much better than Ain’t That A Shame at 16/1. Henry De Bromhead’s 9-year-old ran well in his fourth-place finish at Leopardstown before eclipsing the competition and breezing to victory at Gowran Park.

If anyone can get Ain’t That A Shame in the mix, it’s the brilliant Rachael Blackmore. NetBet are now paying six places for the Grand National at 1/5.
