Arsenal vs Tottenham Preview

Both Arsenal and Tottenham come into this one on the back of unbeaten starts to the season. The two teams have identical records of four wins and a draw from their opening five matches, with the white half of North London above their rivals on goal difference alone.

With one eye undoubtedly on this massive fixture, it was no surprise to see Arteta rotate key players for Wednesday’s victory at home to PSV. We’re expecting the Arsenal manager to field a full-strength XI on Sunday – nothing else will be tolerated.

By contrast, Tottenham will have benefitted from a full week’s rest, as they had no midweek football to contend with, having finished outside the European places last season. Ange Postecoglou’s side are already showing signs of gelling together well, silencing his critics and proving that there is life after Harry Kane.

North London Derby Betting Odds

Despite Tottenham having the benefit of a week’s rest, we’re still backing Arsenal to walk away with three points and priceless bragging rights. The Gunners’ record on home soil against Spurs is impressive – you have to go back to 2011 for Tottenham’s last away victory, which remains the only time they have beaten Arsenal since they moved to the Emirates Stadium in 2006. With Arsenal’s impressive home record against their North London rivals, and the full backing of the fans behind them, it should come as no surprise that the Gunners are favourites at 1.70 to claim victory.

While Spurs have impressed under Postecoglou this season, their away record against Arsenal sees them placed at 4.20 to win and 4.10 to draw the match.

In terms of goal scorers, Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah are both favourites at 6.50 to open the scoring, with Bukayo Saka in third at 7.00. You have to go down to 8th place to find the first Tottenham player, with Heung-Min Son priced at 8.40 to open the scoring for Spurs.

Arsenal vs Tottenham Betting Tips

Bet Builder: Arsenal to win, Over 1.5 goals and Gabriel Jesus to score anytime @ 3.40

While the form book points towards an Arsenal victory, we’re also expecting goals – there were six of them in both meetings last season, with the meeting at the Emirates ending in a 3-1 victory for Arsenal.

While plenty of players will want their names on the scoresheet, Gabriel Jesus will be among the most eager. He scored in this fixture last season, and has looked in good form since returning from injury.

Bukayo Saka to score first @ 7.00

While Jesus and Nketiah may be favourites to get their names on the scoresheet, Arsenal have another potent goalscorer in Saka. The Englishman already has two league goals to his name so far this campaign, following on from an impressive 15 goals in all competitions last season.
