Premier League: Chelsea vs Arsenal Preview, Odds & Betting Tips

Chelsea vs Arsenal Preview

The Chelsea vs Arsenal rivalry, separated by just four miles in London, is a historic fixture that has produced some unbelievable encounters. For a while, Chelsea dominated this fixture during a period of sustained Premier League success; Arsenal were forced to sit up and take note of their Blue neighbours from across the city.

However, recently the Gunners have been back to their best, and under Mikel Arteta, they are genuine title contenders. Unfortunately for Chelsea, it’s been a poor start and one that has left them adrift of the leaders by some distance. We’ve previewed this weekend’s big clash and put together some betting tips from the latest Premier League odds.

Chelsea vs Arsenal Preview

Title Contenders?

Arsenal head to Stamford Bridge this Saturday level on points with Spurs and leading the way at the top. For the Gunners, they are yet to be beaten in the league this season. Mikel Arteta seems to be building something special in North London. After heartbreak last season and coming so close, they have bolstered the squad and look like genuine champion material.

Arsenal had their time as ‘the banter club’. It was an era that went on for far too long. However, they seem to be back to their very best and only lost out to an exceptional Manchester City side last season. They are yet to be beaten this time around, and have had to come through Manchester United, Manchester City and Spurs in that time. Although they drew the latter, it’s certainly not the flaky Arsenal of old.

Their win against the champions and treble winners City outlined just how far they have come and what a force they are now. Declan Rice seems to have shored up that weak midfield and Martin Odegaard has carried on his good form. The only loss is their ‘starboy’ Bukayo Saka who is likely to miss this matchup. Luckily they have Gabriel Martinelli to cover, who scored the winner against Manchester City (via the face of Nathan Ake).

Can Chelsea Kickstart Their Season?

Then there’s Chelsea. A crazy clown car of a football club at the moment. Is Todd Boehly’s investment-style football club ever going to reap the rewards once promised? They currently sit 11th, way off their lofty standards once set by the unnamed Russian. However, the Blues performed well defeating Burnley 4-1 in their last league match, and regained much-needed confidence.

But there is no denying that the two clubs find themselves in very different positions to even just five years ago. Chelsea, two-time Champions League winners, have had an extreme fall from grace. Since the ‘Todd’ era began, it’s been a period of hard work. Graham Potter faced difficulties that ultimately saw him axed.

Mauricio Pochettino has encountered similar challenges. However, they managed to turn things around with a 2-0 win over Fulham and a 4-1 victory against Burnley, securing back-to-back league wins for the first time since March. It’s certainly not the Chelsea of old. For now, Chelsea fans, hold your framed photos of Lampard, Terry, Drogba, and the rest tight. It’s going to be a long road back.

Latest Premier League Betting Odds

Arsenal did the double over Chelsea last season and haven’t lost this fixture since August 2021. The Gunners will again fancy themselves going into this one given their recent form. However, Chelsea have won two on the bounce. It must be caveated with the fact it was Fulham and Burnley respectively. Maybe they are ready to take a big scalp?

Chelsea are underdogs at 2.97 to take this one at home, with Arsenal slight favourites at 2.30, and the draw priced at 3.34. Nicolas Jackson is the favourite to open the scoring at 6.70 and is at 3.23 to score anytime. Gabriel Jesus is 7.70 to net first and 3.61 to grab a goal at any time.

Chelsea vs Arsenal Betting Tips

BTTS, Gabriel Jesus to score anytime, Arsenal to win, and over 1.5 goals @ 5.25

Arsenal will be feeling confident coming into this given their form this season. They have also had Chelsea’s number over the last couple of years. Jesus has only netted once this year in the league but we all know what a quality player he is; the goals will come.

Nicolas Jackson to score first @ 6.70

Jackson seems to be really starting to show his quality. After a few teething issues, he bagged a great finish last time out. This could well kick him into gear and he could show his class and open the scoring in this one.

Arsenal to win 3-1 @ 19:00

This is a game that always promises goals. Both sides have very potent attacks but also struggle at the back. Chelsea’s problem has been they can’t keep teams out, or score enough. For Arsenal, they will fancy grabbing a few here and taking all the points back to North London.
