Paris Saint-Germain vs Arsenal Preview

Last week’s first leg at the Emirates was a sensational match, with PSG emerging as 1-0 winners thanks to an early goal from the in-form Ousmane Dembele.

The Parisians could have scored more, although the hosts also had efforts thwarted by the brilliant Gianluigi Donnarumma and a Mikel Merino equaliser correctly ruled out for offside.

So the second leg in Paris is set up very nicely, with the hosts deservedly viewed as the favourites to reach the final in Munich.

However, Arsenal have shown this season that they can operate magnificently away from home in Europe.

Arteta’s men beat Real Madrid 2-1 at the Bernabeu in the previous round and also thrashed PSV 7-1 in Eindhoven as part of their last-16 tie.

Oh and in the League Phase, the Gunners defeated Sporting Lisbon 5-1 in Portugal, while PSG were beaten 1-0 in Paris by Liverpool in the first round after the play-offs – albeit in a match which the Ligue 1 champions dominated.

In terms of recent league form, it is hard to judge either club, as it is clear both are focused on this tie.

PSG have lost back-to-back matches against Nice and Strasbourg, while Arsenal followed up a 2-2 draw vs Crystal Palace with a 2-1 defeat against Bournemouth.

Arteta will be well aware of the need to raise performance levels in Paris and the return of Thomas Partey from suspension could very well prove key.

Partey’s presence allows Declan Rice to operate in the advanced midfield role which he has thrived in of late, while also paving the way for Merino to operate as a target man up top and Leandro Trossard to offer his services as an impact sub.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Arsenal Betting Tips

Ousmane Dembele to have over 2.5 shots on target @ 4.50

Ballon d’Or contender Dembele is expected to shake off a minor hamstring injury picked up in the first leg to feature from the off. The Frenchman ranks first for shots attempted (59) and fourth for shots on target (21) in this competition, hence why we are backing him to keep David Raya very busy.

Player to score or assist – Declan Rice @ 3.40

Rice has been Arsenal’s go-to man in the Champions League, with the Englishman scoring two famous free-kicks in the 3-0 home win over Real Madrid. He scored again on the weekend vs Bournemouth and if the Gunners are to complete a comeback, it is likely Rice will be one of the key factors.

Draw no bet – Arsenal @ 2.39

We really fancy Arsenal to make a game of it in Paris and this option means your stake will be returned if the match finishes as a draw in regulation time.
