Chelsea vs Liverpool Football Preview

There has been nothing separating these sides over 90 minutes in each of their three meetings this season. Both league fixtures ended all square and their League Cup final needed penalties to decide a winner. Despite the huge points discrepancy in the league, they are two very evenly matched teams on their day.

Chelsea have been struggling for form ahead of their trip to Wembley, and their recent record at the national stadium won’t fill them with too much confidence. Following their last FA Cup final triumph in 2018, the Blues have made four trips to Wembley (excluding Community Shields) without winning a single one.

For all of Klopp’s impressive work on Merseyside, domestic cups have been somewhat illusive. Since the start of his reign, Liverpool have failed to reach an FA Cup final and have made the EFL Cup final on just two occasions, with his only success coming this season.

The west London side have found wins hard to come by in this fixture. Since Klopp took over at Anfield, these two have met 18 times in all competitions, with Chelsea picking up just four wins. That being said, Liverpool haven’t been entirely dominant – the Reds have managed six wins in 90 minutes, with two more coming through penalties.

NetBet’s win probability counter has Liverpool as strong favourites at 47%. Chelsea are given just a 26% chance of victory, with a draw valued as slightly more likely at 27%.

Chelsea vs Liverpool Football Odds

Although Liverpool are favourites, there is still value in their odds a 1/1 to win within 90 minutes. The draw has been a common outcome and can be backed at 5/2, with Chelsea underdogs at 13/5.

NetBet Boost: Draw HT / Draw FT – NOW 5/1

This has been the outcome in all three of their meetings this season. The stakes are higher than they have been all campaign, but Tuchel has a way of raising his players to the occasion, and form may just go out the window.

NetBet Boost: Mo Salah to score first – NOW 4/1

Speaking of form, the league’s top goalscorer hasn’t had the best start to 2022. Since returning from Egypt’s World Cup qualifiers, Salah has found the net in just one game out of the 12 he’s appeared in. But it’s still Mo Salah, and his left foot is a wand.

Create Your Bet Special: Liverpool win, Both teams to score, Sadio Mane & Mason Mount anytime goalscorers – 19/1

We fancy this might be the first time we see a winner within 90 minutes this season. A win for the Reds keeps the quadruple alive, and although we expect Chelsea to give as good as they get, they haven’t got the same momentum. If anyone is going to give the Blues a chance, it’s Mount, but they might be on the end of a third straight FA Cup final defeat.
